Why the weight is gained after menopause?

Thyroid gland

A lot of time the weight gain comes as a part of the thyroid gland. During menopause it becomes dearth. So menopause is not just that the ovaries doesn’t work but also a lot many glands marginalize their functions too.

Sleeplessness

It’s the infuriation and displeasure of the changes in the body that gives rise to uncomfortable nights which subsequently leads into hunger moments and so you tend to overeat.

Aging

Weight gain also occurs as a part of aging regardless of hormonal changes. Research has proved that women during the summative years irrespective of their menopause tend to gain the same average weight over a period of 2-3 years.

Estrogen dominance

Right before your menopause during the peri-menopause phase, due to the downfall of progesterone (which occurs due to irregular periods) hormonal imbalance starts to show its effects by weight gain in the hips and the thigh, which is insignificantly the first time when we see the menopause and weight gain link with each other.

Post-Menopause belly weight gain

Once you are in the menopause phase, your estrogen and progesterone are both in a new low level. The body is used to the low progesterone level but its yet not ready to accept the estrogen downfall and so it shifts its ground to the secondary source which is the fat cells, hence you have more fat production in the body. Furthermore, the level of estrogen produced by the fat cells is substantially lower than the ovary cells which cause a metabolic shift in the distribution of fat in your body. It now shifts from the hips and thighs to your belly making it protruding.
