Are packaged Noodles or Chowmein good or bad?

Today’s generation hardly has time for themselves. Whether it is medicine, healthcare, cooking – we need to have it in a wink of an eye. We are all running short of time. We have no time to spare. In this race, we need to serve ourselves in the shortest amount of time.

 

Whether you are in the middle of the night, trying to mug up for your semester, or alone at home with almost nothing to eat, your ultimate savior is a packet of instant noodles or Chowmein. They need the least of cooking abilities and before you know, within 5-10 minutes; your noodles are ready and you and satisfy your food cravings.

 

However, all this is not as great as it sounds. Though it is easy to cook and also fills our stomach, do we think about how healthy is it for us? Is it okay to have regular consumption of Maggi noodles or Chowmein? Do we even think twice? No, we don’t. Because in this rat race, we have forgotten to invest in our bodies. Altogether we have started to ignore our bodily needs of proper nutrition.

 

Let us look into some of the heal effects that instant noodles or Chowmein have on our body:

 

  1. High levels of Sodium

Whether it is instant noodles or Chowmein, both of them contain high levels of sodium. As a matter of fact, Instant noodles contains 46% Sodium of daily requirement. Consequently, the consumption of high levels of Sodium for a longer period of time can cause an imbalance in water retention and sodium-potassium level, too. This is highly dangerous for the body.

 

     2.    Full of calories:

Instant noodles or Chowmein is a huge source of calories. There are less nutrition and more calories in it. In fact, there is 360 g of calorie in one packet of Maggie noodles. Among the 360 g of calories, 14 g is fat. So much calorie and fat are harmful to health.

 

  1. Trans Fats are involved:

As far as Maggi noodles are concerned, it contains Trans Fats. Now, as a matter of fact, Trans fats are as difficult for the body to digest as saturated fats. Trans fats or partially hydrogenated oil increases the Bad Cholesterol or Low-Density Lipoproteins and decreases Good Cholesterol or High-Density Lipoproteins.

These induce fatal diseases like Cholesterol, heart diseases, diabetes and so on. They also tend to increase the risk of nutritional deficiency, and deterioration of the cell.

 

  1. Abdominal Issues

    Noodles tend to cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, acidity, bloating, and can also alter blood pressure levels in an extreme case. Because of the presence of citric acid, as a major ingredient in Maggi noodles and Chowmein, it enhances the antioxidants, in spite of the fact that it is not an antioxidant, itself. Citric acid is used to perform an acidity regulator. However, this increases the acidity in the stomach. They can also increase the risk of cancer, specifically stomach cancer.

 

  1. Deep-Fried Food: Instant noodles are deep-fried. In fact, the second-largest ingredient Instant is vegetable oil. The edible vegetable oil is used for deep frying Maggi. Consumption of so much oil can increase cholesterol levels and cause cardiovascular diseases on a go.

    It might seem that vegetables in the packaged noodles provide a lot of nutrition. However, this is a wrong concept that had developed over time. The fact, to be blatant is, they are not at all handy. As a matter of fact, the vegetables are dehydrated and do not contain any nutrition value. Hence, they are useless and without a doubt, harmful.

 

  1. Presence of Monosodium Glutamate:

Instant noodles might contain monosodium glutamate (MSG), a salt of sodium. MSG is very harmful to health in the following ways:

 

  • It can cause an immense headache.
  • MSG can lead to the weakening of arms and legs.
  • MSG can also cause hives and other allergic reactions on the body.
  • A burning sensation of the mouth can be caused by MSG.
  • Finally, it can also upset the stomach.

Thus, we can conclude that in spite of the fact that packaged noodles and Chowmein are easy to access, it must be consumed in control because it has an immense amount of bad effects and is harmful to the body, altogether.
