What is Paleo Diet..?

Paleo as the word suggests dates back to Paleolithic age. A paleo diet is the diet plan which is similar to the diet taken in the ancient era, during Paleolithic age (2.5 million- 10000 years ago). It is called by different names like caveman diet, primal diet, Stone Age diet, hunter-gatherers diet etc.

  • Nuts- Nuts consists of healthy fats, fibers, and protein. This renders their utility to another level.
  • Seeds- Seeds are one of those products, which are overloaded with healthy fats, fibers, proteins, and other nutrients. Being sufficient in all these, it becomes important to add them to our diet.
  • Healthful oils Oils like olive oil, walnut oil, avocado oil, coconut oil etc. are extracted directly from the plants. This makes them healthy for the well-being of an individual.

The very concept of Paleo diet revolves around giving up modern foods and taking recourse to age-old foods, the foods that our ancestors took. This means shifting from unhealthy packaged and processed foods to healthy and fresh foods. Most importantly, a simple change in the food habits marks a transition from the foods to be avoided by entering into the realm of foods to be taken. Actually, the Paleo diet not only increases the intake of protein, vitamins, and minerals into the diet but also marks a reduction in the unhealthy foods intake. The above-mentioned diet plan provides the body with essential nutrients and acts as a safety valve against diseases like obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart diseases etc. To briefly summarize its advantages-

  • It helps in maintaining a balanced energy all day along.
  • This balanced energy means a proper workout mechanism in the body.
  • The individual observes a better and healthy sleeping pattern.
  • The diet even helps in acting against inflammation in the body.

Of course, following a proper Paleo diet is difficult, but once it is adopted into, it makes living beautiful. Many of the online resources provide proper Paleo recipes and cookbooks, but the significance lies in how beautifully one is able to adopt it in his/her diet.

It is very important to incorporate the diets mentioned in the above segments, into one’s diet plan. Well, the scheduling of these intakes may differ from person to person. However, what is important is its daily intake.

Criticism of Paleo Diet

  • It is expensive.
  • It is difficult to manage.
  • It is too restrictive.

Well, the dietary plan is aimed at providing numerous benefits but these advantages are not actually backed by any long-term clinical study. One more thing is to be noted that the health, which one gets through this, can actually be developed through proper exercising and other dietary plans.
